Master of Arts in Education ESOL Program
(English for Speakers of Other Languages)
The Traditional Class A Option is designed for teachers who already hold Class B Certification in any teaching field. This option does lead to Alabama P-12 certification in ESOL.
The Alternative Class A Option is designed for candidates who hold a baccalaureate degree in any field. This option does lead to Alabama P-12 certification in ESOL.
The International ESOL Option is designed for candidates who wish to teach adult English language learners in the United States or to teach any level of English language learners in other countries. The International ESOL Option does not lead to P-12 certification in ESOL in Alabama.
The TESOL Certificate is designed for candidates who wish to have training in working with English language learners but who do not wish to pursue the Master of Arts in Education degree. It includes the coursework from the first year of the International ESOL Option.
