HCI Minor

The field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is an emerging interdisciplinary field of study that aims to improve the interactive experience between users and electronic devices, be they computer programs, web browsers, video games, smartphones, or mobile devices. HCI accomplishes this goal by combining the research methods of psychology, technical prowess of computer science, and aesthetic sharpness of graphic design. These fields enable the creation of meaningful, enjoyable, and low-stress computer experience by utilizing user-centered design principles that focus on the needs of the user. In recent years, the various industries have given increasing attention to HCI, due to the ubiquity of computers. Everyone uses computers, and everyone wants to enjoy using computers. Graphic designers in HCI will cooperate with psychologists and computer programmers to develop programs that are not only easy on the eyes, but also interacts smoothly. By taking the minor in HCI, art students can prepare to join a growing field of designers to inject aesthetic beauty into the next generation of user-centric computer software.
