Originally from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Dr. Jordan Redd obtained a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Southeast Missouri State University, a Master of Music degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and graduated from UNL with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Dr. Redd is currently Assistant Professor of Music - Horn at the 香港六合彩挂牌资料. Additionally, Dr. Redd has held teaching positions at Lindenwood University and Murray State University.
Over the past five years, Dr. Redd has become a local, regional, national, and international award-winning soloist. Achievements include: First Prize in the Charleston International Romantic Music Competition, First Prize in the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, and First Prize in the Golden Music Classical Awards. In 2020 Dr. Redd won First Prize in the chamber music division of the North International Music competition with former instructor and friend Nicholas Kenney. In December of 2021, Dr. Redd made his solo debut in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, Dr. Redd was twice a National Finalist in the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Brass Competition where he placed second in 2019. Dr. Redd was also a Finalist for the 2019 and 2020 London Philharmonia Orchestra Brass fellowship. Due to COVID-19, the live audition for the latter was canceled.
Dr. Redd is currently the principal horn of the Shoals Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra (KY), the Jackson Symphony Orchestra (TN), the Omaha Symphony (NE), and was a soloist with the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Tour in Sioux City, Iowa. In the summer of 2017, he performed at Festival Suoni d’Abruzzo in Guardiagrele, Italy, and in 2017 and 2018 he served as Principal Horn of the FOOSA Philharmonia, which included performances at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, California.
Throughout his teaching career, Dr. Redd has taught applied horn lessons, horn methods, coached chamber ensembles, taught music appreciation courses, and organized the Husker Horn Choir. Dr. Redd also maintains an active private studio of pre-college students and has presented in-person and virtual masterclasses throughout the Midwest and East Coast of the United States.
Dr. Redd performs on a custom L model Lukas horn made by Dan Vidican and Houser mouthpieces.
